Classic Rotary Cigar Cutter

Posted: Monday, March 23, 2009

By Andrew Nagy

Elegant and well constructed, the tabletop Classic Rotary Cigar Cutter from Boston Cigar Cutter Co. gives smokers the means to deliver a precise, wedge-shaped cut with little effort.

The wooden cutter, which comes in black walnut, mahogany, bloodwood or cocobolo, houses a spring-loaded, razor-sharp knife that is milled from surgical stainless steel.

To cut a cigar, the smoker inserts a stick into one of two openings and exposes the blade with the plunge of a lever. The action of the lever is smooth and the V-shaped cut imparted by the sharp blade does not damage the rest of the cigar.

The openings on standard models are 54 ring and 48 ring, but can be customized to accept up to a 64 ring cigar.

The company can engrave the side panel, which can be removed for cleaning, with initials, a name or a custom logo.

The Rotary Cigar Cutter is available at more than 200 retailers as well as at www.bostoncigarcutter.com and comes with a lifetime warranty for craftsmanship. In addition, the company will refurbish and sharpen the blade for a small fee should it lose its edge.

The model in the photograph costs $699; customization is extra.
